Stress is the feeling of being under too much mental or emotional pressure – for example this could be built up through home life, work, school/college or in relationships.
It may be difficult to change or remove the cause of stress, but there are resources available to help you manage stress better – NHS Choices have produced a useful page about stress and stress management. If you have tried self-help techniques and found that they have not helped, you could also speak to your GP.

The Stress Management Society provides information and support to help people tackle stress – support is available through their website, by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or through their helpline (0808 231 5907).
Self-help books and CDs are available to help with stress through the ‘Books on Prescription’ service available at your local library.
