British Lung Foundation Direct
The British Lung Foundation is the only UK charity working for everyone affected by lung disease, with a main focus on providing practical and emotional support.
- Support group (Breathe Easy) meets up on a monthly basis (third Tuesday of the month from 1pm to 3pm) to socialise, organise days out and listen to relevant speakers. ‘Breathe Easy’ groups are friendly support groups aimed at providing support for people affected by lung conditions including patients, friends, family and Carers.
- The main BLF charity provide a helpline (03000 030 555) for confidential and impartial advice, information and support on a number of subjects including travel and transport, oxygen, equipment, welfare benefits as well as issues relating to 40 lung conditions. The team is made up of Respiratory Nurses, Welfare Benefits Advisers to provide practical and emotional support.
- BLF also run a pen-pal befriending scheme, awareness and lung-testing events, a web community and online surgery
How to Access
The monthly support group takes place in the Lounge at Wesley Methodist Church, and anyone is welcome along – contact the North West office for further details.
