Where can I find information about sex, sexual health and contraception?

Get It On is a locally-based website for anyone who might want to know more about their sexual health, and where to go in St Helens if they want any services or more information. There is a comprehensive information section covering a wide range of categories. Community Sexual Health Clinics (or Family Planning Clinics) offer sexual health advice and support, contraception, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing, cervical smear tests, chlamydia screening and consultation for terminations – click here to view a list of locations, contact numbers and opening times.

The Sexual Health (GUM – Genito-Urinary Medicine) Clinic at St Helens Hospital offers an outpatient service to both self-referred patients and patients referred by their GP. Free and confidential services include testing and treatment for STIs, lubrication, contraception, emergency contraception, HIV testing, treatment & care for people with HIV and hepatitis B vaccinations. Services specifically for younger people
TAZ (Teenage Advice Zone) is a sexual health clinic for young people. It is a friendly, confidential and one-to-one service based on the first floor of the Millennium Centre and in outreach locations across the borough of St Helens. Doctors, Nurses and Youth Workers provide advice, support and contraception (such as condoms, the pill, emergency contraception), pregnancy testing and chlamydia testing. They are also on hand to talk about relationships, sex, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and pregnancy.

The C (Condom) Card is available to people between the age of 13 and 19 to obtain free condoms – click here for further information about how to get one and where to get free condoms from. Also from Millennium Centre Pharmacy or any local pharmacy.

If you are aged between 16 and 24 you can also order a free chlamydia screening test through the post by visiting Young and Free.
