Self Help Services (part of the Big Life Group) is a user-led mental health charity providing various services across the North West, with a main emphasis on enabling people to be able to help themselves for people experiencing mental-illness and/or social exclusion.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, delivered through IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) as either a low-intensity (mild to moderate mental problems) or high-intensity (severe mental health problems) programme. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, delivered through one-to-one sessions and involving ‘homework’ worksheets and exercises, aims to change the way you think and behave in your life, focusing on improving how you deal with problems.
Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy consists of either the ‘Beating the Blues’ (anxiety and depression) or ‘FearFighter’ (OCD and phobias) computer programs, which help participants identify and change unhelpful ways of thinking and to learn more effective ways of solving problems
How to Access the Service:
Access to CBT and cCBT must be made through a referral from the Open Mind Service - you can self-refer yourself to the Open Mind Service or alternatively be referred through your GP. Services are delivered in various community locations across St Helens.
